Okay, so I decided to remake the PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, just like they do in the specialty stores. It was a wild ride, let me tell you!
First, I gathered all the materials. I mean, you can’t just use any old leather. It had to be Saffiano, just like the real deal. I spent days searching for the right stuff, and let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. Finally, I found it, and it was perfect. It was costly, but I have to make it real, right?
Next, I started cutting the leather. Now, this bag is made of 83 pieces. Eighty-three! Can you believe it? I carefully measured and cut each piece, making sure they were all the right size and shape. It took forever, but I didn’t want to mess it up. It has to be perfect, or I failed.
The Assembly
Then came the fun part – putting it all together. I started by sewing the main body of the bag. I was so nervous that my hands are shaking. I used a heavy-duty sewing machine, and I was taking it really slow. Once I got into a rhythm, it wasn’t so bad. It felt like I was one of those skilled workers in the PRADA factory. I studied those “cones reinventados” and “novas bolsas em couro” that PRADA mentioned. Those were so inspiring from their archives!
- I sewed the lining to the inside of the bag.
- I carefully attached the handles, making sure they were secure.
- I added the hardware, like the zippers and the PRADA logo. Man, that logo was tricky!
It took me weeks, but I finally finished it! I mean, it’s not perfect. There are a few wonky seams, and the logo is a little crooked, but it’s mine, and I’m proud of it. It’s like those “bolsas Prada icnicas recriadas em Re-Nylon” they talked about. Mine is not Re-Nylon, but still, it is remade by me!
The Final Product
After all that work, I finally had my very own Remake PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. I carried it around everywhere, showing it off to everyone. I even took it to the PRADA store to compare it to the real thing. The sales associate was impressed, I think. Or maybe she was just being nice. Whatever, I did it!
It was a lot of work, but it was worth it. I learned so much about leatherworking and bag making. And now I have a cool bag to show for it. Would I do it again? Maybe. But next time, I think I’ll try a simpler design. Eighty-three pieces are a lot, even for an experienced craftsman.
