Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to share this whole experience with you guys, and today’s the day. It’s about getting my hands on an OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the see-through back. You know, the kind where you can peek at all the tiny gears working inside.
First off, I started by looking around online, just to get an idea of what I was dealing with. I found this post by some guy who bought a Speedmaster 329.32.44.51.01.001 and was freaking out because he couldn’t find the exact same model anywhere else. He started to doubt that it is a real Omega. Made me a bit nervous, to be honest. It got me thinking, “How do you even know if it’s the real deal?”
Then I bumped into another post where someone was asking if their Omega Speedmaster was real or fake. He had the chance to buy it from a friend, but neither of them was sure. He asked some watch guys on the internet to check it out. I read through all the comments. Some of the watch experts pointed out things like the “OMEGA Speedmaster Professional” text looking too big and out of place. Little details like that, you know?
I even saw some stuff in French, talking about the new model using some “calibre coaxial 3861.” I don’t speak French, but it sounded important. I guess it’s some kind of special movement inside the watch.
So, after all that reading and freaking myself out a little, I decided to go for it. I found a seller, we met up, and I checked the watch. It felt heavy, looked good, and had all the right markings. I handed over the cash and walked away with my new (hopefully real) OMEGA Speedmaster.
The first thing I did after getting it was to flip it over and stare at the back. Seeing all those tiny parts moving was just mesmerizing. I probably spent a good hour just watching it tick. It’s like having a little mechanical city on your wrist.
- Checked the overall weight and feel. It felt solid and substantial, just like the real deal should.
- Examined the text and logos. I compared it to pictures of genuine watches online, looking for any inconsistencies.
- Looked at the movement through the transparent case back. I checked if it has “calibre coaxial 3861”. Although I’m no expert, I tried to see if anything looked off or out of place.
After that I start to wear it every day. This watch is so cool. It makes me happy. It is not only a watch but also a work of art. It is cool to see those tiny parts moving.
Some things that may affect the value
I read online that investing in these watches can be tricky. They say the value can go up or down depending on the market. Some random post mentioned an “Important Legal Notice” about investing, and it made me think twice about seeing this watch as an investment. I just like it as a watch, you know? I’m not planning to sell it or anything, but it’s good to know that it might lose value.
Anyway, that’s my story about getting the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the transparent case back. It was a bit of an adventure, with some doubts and worries along the way, but in the end, I’m happy with it. It’s a beautiful timepiece, and I enjoy wearing it every day.
