Remake PRADA Large Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag: Should You Buy It from an Online Store?

Okay, so I wanted to get a Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. But like, the real ones are super expensive. So, I looked around for an online store to see if I could find a more affordable one. Maybe not the real deal, but something close, you know?

I started by looking up descriptions of the original bag. You know the type, I’m talking about the Large Prada Galleria Saffiano bag. Found some stuff about how it’s a “re-edition of an archive design” and that it “sums up Prada codes”. Sounds fancy, right? It also mentioned “Re-Nylon” and “Saffiano leather details,” which I guess is what makes it special. And of course that it has two handles.

Then, I started to think, what if I just try to remake it? I could use my old flashcards to take some notes, write down all the details about the bag, and figure out how to make it. I even started looking into what materials I would need. Nylon, maybe some leather, and I need to figure out what “Saffiano” actually means.

I spent the whole afternoon searching for materials online. Found some nylon fabric, but good leather is tricky to find, especially the Saffiano kind. It was tough, not gonna lie. I was almost ready to give up and just get a different bag, maybe something like that Longchamp Le Pliage XL I saw, which looked kinda nice for weekend trips.

But then, I found this one website. They had tons of materials, like a wordplays for fabrics, and that’s where I found these leather pieces, they didn’t say it was exactly Saffiano, but the texture in the photo looked really similar. I ordered a bunch, and some other fabrics that seemed to match the Re-Nylon description, just to be safe. I wanted to have the same feeling that I had with my 2-bit power universe notebook.

  • First, I sketched out the design based on the pictures I found online, paying close attention to the shape and size.
  • Then, I cut out the patterns from paper and used them as templates for the fabric and leather.
  • Next, I started sewing the pieces together. This was the hardest part. I had to redo the seams a couple of times because I wanted it to look perfect.
  • Finally, I added the handles and the lining. It took me a few days, but I was so happy with the result!

It wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty good! I’m not saying it’s a real Prada, but it’s my Prada. And I made it myself, which feels pretty awesome. I learned a lot during this whole thing, and now I have a pretty cool bag that didn’t cost me a fortune. Plus, I have a new appreciation for how much work goes into making these designer bags. It’s not easy!

So yeah, that’s my story of how I tried to remake a Prada bag. It was a fun little project, and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. Maybe I’ll try making another bag sometime. Or maybe I’ll just save up for the real one. Who knows!
