This here Omega Speedmaster Date, it’s a thing, ain’t it? I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market. They say it’s a right fancy watch. I don’t know much about these kinda things, but I heard it tells the time real good, and the date too, which I guess is useful.
They say it’s got them “central hour, minute, and chronograph seconds hands.” Now, I don’t rightly know what “chronograph” means. Sounds like some kinda fancy picture takin’ thing, but maybe it just means it’s got lots of hands. And a “central date indicator.” That just means it shows the date, plain as day, I reckon. They tell me this watch is kind of a big deal, some folks like to collect them, like them old stamps some folks collect.
I heard some of these watches, they’re called “special edition.” Like they’re only made a few times, not like them regular watches everyone’s got. Makes ’em worth more, I guess. Like that old hen we had that only laid blue eggs. Worth more than the regular brown egg layers, that’s for sure. People want to buy them old special edition watches, they said.
Now, they say these Omega Speedmaster Date watches, they cost a pretty penny. I heard someone say ’bout four thousand dollars! Four thousand! That’s a lot of money. Could buy a whole lotta chickens with that kinda money. A whole lotta feed, too. Or maybe even a new roof for the shed. Four thousand dollars is too much for my pocket, I can tell you that!

I seen some folks askin’ what’s a good price for one of these watches. They talk about numbers like “105.012” and things. I don’t understand all that. Seems like a lot of fuss for a watch. But I guess some folks, they really like these things. I don’t know if they’re good or not. But so many people want to buy them. It should be good I guess.
And then they go on about “retail” and other words I don’t rightly know. I think they try to tell people the Omega Speedmaster Date price. I don’t know what that means, but I guess it’s important if you’re gonna buy one of these fancy watches. You gotta know how much it costs, that’s for sure. But why they make it so complicated, only for a watch? I don’t understand.
I saw somethin’ that said “Best prices for new Omega Speedmaster Date.” Well, that makes sense. If you’re gonna spend all that money, you wanna get the best price, don’t ya? Just like when you’re buyin’ a sack of potatoes. You look around for the best price. No use payin’ more than you have to. There are so many different kinds of watches, they said. You can buy a watch which can tell the date, the day of a week or something else.
Then there was somethin’ in a different language. I couldn’t read it. Said somethin’ about “*.” I don’t know what that is. Maybe it’s a place where they sell these watches. I don’t know. A lot of people are talking about it. So many people want to buy these watches. But it is really expensive.
They say you can get one of these watches, a “Speedmaster Day-Date,” for less than one of them other ones. A little cheaper, I reckon. How much does it cost? Still expensive. Still more than I’d pay for a watch. But I guess if you’re into these things, it might be worth it. I don’t know. They also said that the condition of the watch will affect the price. It makes sense. If the watch is old and broken, it won’t cost too much, right?
And then more words I don’t know. “Legendre Speedys” and “Fliegeruhren.” Sounds like somethin’ from one of them war movies. Maybe these are special kinds of watches too. I don’t know. There are so many different kinds of watches and I don’t understand. I just know this Omega Speedmaster Date is a real expensive one. You can buy a lot of things with that money.
This whole watch thing is a bit of a mystery to me. But I guess some folks, they really like ’em. Like my neighbor, he collects them old tractors. Spends all his time and money on ’em. I don’t understand it, but it makes him happy. So I guess if these Omega Speedmaster Date watches make people happy, then that’s all that matters. It should be worth that price.
But four thousand dollars… That’s still a lot of money for a watch. No matter how many fancy hands it’s got.
