So, I’ve been seeing this YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG, right? All over the place, on those fancy Instagram pages and what not. And people are always going on about how it’s such a classic, a good investment, blah blah blah. Honestly, I was curious. Could a bag really be worth all that fuss? And the price, don’t even get me started. I mean, we’re talking some serious dough here.
I did some digging around, you know, the usual internet deep dive. Found out that the YSL, or Yves Saint Laurent, those are some fancy words for a fashion brand, has been around for a while and their bags are supposed to be super well-made. They say the bags are stitched carefully with the best material and attention given to the smallest details, so it’s the good stuff. That’s what they say, anyway.
But still, that price tag. It bugged me. So, I thought, why not try to make one myself? Yeah, you heard that right. A DIY project, if you will.
First thing I did was to find a bag that looked kind of like the YSL one. It wasn’t the same, obviously, but it had that same boxy shape. That was the starting point, my blank canvas, you could say.
Next, I needed to figure out how to get that YSL logo on there. That’s the thing that everyone recognizes, right? After messing around a bit, I ended up cutting the letters out of some shiny gold fabric and stitching them onto the bag. It wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty darn close, if I do say so myself.
Then came the details. I added a chain strap, similar to the one on the real bag, and even managed to find a little tassel thingy to hang off the side. Little by little, it was starting to look like the real deal.
The whole process took me a few days, working on it here and there when I had some free time. And you know what? It was actually kind of fun. Plus, I saved a ton of money. Sure, it’s not the real YSL, but it’s got that same vibe, that same look.
- Found a similar-looking bag as the base
- Cut out YSL letters from gold fabric
- Stitched the letters onto the bag
- Added a chain strap and tassel
The Result
And, I gotta say, I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. I’ve been carrying it around, and people have actually asked me if it’s a real YSL. Can you believe it? Makes me feel like a million bucks, even though I only spent a fraction of that. It just goes to show, you don’t always need to break the bank to get that high-fashion look. Sometimes, all you need is a little creativity and some elbow grease.
So, if you’re thinking about getting that YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG but are scared off by the price, maybe consider giving this little DIY project a try. You might surprise yourself with what you can create! And the best part? You get to tell everyone, “Oh, this old thing? I made it myself.”
