So, I’ve been obsessed with the YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL bag lately. You know, the one from the official flagship store. It’s just so classy and chic, I had to have it. Or at least, a version of it.
I started by scouring the internet, looking at pictures of the bag from every possible angle. I analyzed the Saint Laurent’s College top-handle tote, just like the classic envelope shape, it’s simple and elegant. The BLACK LE CARR satchel in BOX SAINT LAURENT caught my eye, and I knew that was the one I wanted to recreate. I learned that Yves Saint Laurent himself named some bags after his muses. The Loulou bag, for example, is named after Loulou de la Falaise. That’s pretty cool, right?
Anyway, I gathered all the materials I needed. Of course I did not use real leather, and some other fabric I found in my storage. I already have sewing machine and some tools. I’m not aiming for a perfect replica, but something that captures the essence of the bag. I measured and cut the fabric, making sure to get the dimensions just right. I mean, this bag is all about its clean lines and boxy shape, so I had to pay attention to the details.

It took me a few days, working on it whenever I had some free time, and there were a few moments of frustration, I won’t lie. But in the end, I did it! I created my own version of the YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL bag. It’s not an exact copy, but it has that same timeless, elegant vibe that I love. This is a common bag that’s easy to remake.
I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, especially since it’s my first time attempting something like this. I’ve been carrying it around, and I’ve gotten a few compliments already. It’s a great feeling to know that I made something with my own hands that I can actually use and enjoy. This is how I remade this bag, and I will do this kind of thing again.
I read somewhere that Saint Laurent is a leading fashion House with a very distinctive identity and strong codes. That’s why their designs are so timeless and versatile. I guess that’s what drew me to this bag in the first place.
Oh, and get this – I saw some vintage YSL bags online, like quilted clutches from the ’70s and ’80s, and even pre-loved Rive Gauche totes. Some of them were selling for like $1! Can you believe it? I might try to snag one of those next. But for now, I’m happy with my little creation. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and that’s what matters.
