Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this High imitation Rolex GMT-Master II, the one with the Pepsi bezel. You know, the classic red and blue. It’s a pretty sweet-looking watch, I gotta say.
First off, I tried to see if it had those secret, hidden details that only show up under UV light. I watched some video online, and they showed a real Rolex with these marks. I grabbed my little UV flashlight and shined it all over this imitation watch. Guess what? Nothing! It seems like these imitators couldn’t crack that code.
- Used a UV flashlight to check for hidden details.
- Compared the results to a video of a real Rolex.
- Found that the imitation watch did not have the same UV-reactive marks.
Next, I wanted to test how waterproof it was. I read somewhere that real Rolex GMT-Masters can handle being underwater up to about 100 meters. I wasn’t about to go diving, but I figured a good swim test was in order.
I wore it in the shower, no problem. Then, I took it to the local pool and did a few laps. I even kept it on while I was splashing around with my kids. So far, so good. It still ticked and didn’t fog up or anything.
- Wore the watch in the shower to test basic water resistance.
- Took the watch for a swim in a pool to further test its water resistance.
- Observed that the watch continued to function properly and did not show signs of water damage.
Now, about the whole two-time-zone thing. They say the real GMT-Master lets you track two time zones at once. I messed around with the bezel and the extra hour hand, and yeah, I could kinda set it to show a different time. It’s not super intuitive, but it works, I guess. I mean, for regular folks like me, who’s really checking two time zones that often? But hey, it’s a neat feature to have, I suppose.
I also heard that the “Pepsi” Rolex, especially the one with rose gold, is a hot item among collectors. Something about the color combo being super desirable. This imitation I got doesn’t have any real rose gold, obviously. It’s just some kind of coated metal. But I’ll give them points for trying. It looks pretty similar to the pictures of the real deal I’ve seen online.
Overall, I’d say this fake Rolex is alright. It’s not fooling anyone up close, but it’s a decent-looking watch. I did find a few things that it did not pass. It passed the water test, and it’s got that whole two-time-zone thing going on, but did not pass the UV light test. It does look nice, though, especially with that Pepsi bezel. Just don’t expect it to be a real Rolex, you know?
End of the experiment
That’s it for now. I might do some more tests on this thing later. Maybe I’ll see how long the power reserve lasts or something. Stay tuned!
