Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again with another project. Today, I’m diving into something a little fancier than usual – I’m remaking the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001. Yeah, that’s right, the one with the charcoal gray dial. Fancy, huh?

So, first things first, I had to really get to know this watch. I mean, you can’t just jump into something like this without doing your homework. I spent hours looking at pictures, reading about its features, and basically becoming a mini-expert on the Calatrava 6119G-001. It’s got this “Clous de Paris” bezel, which is basically a fancy way of saying it has a really intricate, textured pattern around the edge. And the hands, they’re three-dimensional! It’s all in the details, folks.

After I felt like I knew the watch inside and out, I started gathering my materials. This wasn’t as easy as my usual projects. I needed some specialized tools and materials to even come close to the quality of a real Patek Philippe. I scoured online stores, I have to find the right stuff. It was a bit of a treasure hunt, but I was determined.

Next up, the actual crafting part. This was a whole different ball game. I started with the case, trying to replicate that slightly larger diameter they gave this new model. Let me tell you, working on such a small scale with such precision was tough. My hands were cramping, my eyes were strained, but I kept at it. I wanted to make sure that it was bold and beautiful, like the original.

Then came the bezel. Oh boy, the bezel. Recreating that Clous de Paris pattern was a nightmare, but a fun one. I tried a few different techniques until I found one that gave me a similar effect. It’s not perfect, but it’s got that same kind of textured look. But after all that, it sure gave it an impression.

The dial and hands were next. I had to be super careful here, especially with the three-dimensional hands. The dial is also a very unique charcoal gray, as I mentioned earlier. It took a lot of patience and a steady hand, but I think I managed to capture the essence of the original. Finally, I made something that was starting to resemble what I wanted!

Finally, I put it all together. Seeing all the pieces come together was so satisfying. It’s not an exact replica, of course. I mean, I’m not a master watchmaker, and I definitely don’t have the same tools or materials as Patek Philippe. But I’m really proud of how it turned out.

This project was a real challenge, but it was also a lot of fun. It pushed me to learn new skills and to be more patient and precise in my work. Plus, I got to learn a lot about a really beautiful watch. I heard that the real thing is so rare that you might be on a waiting list for a year or more just to get one, or even 8 years for the Nautilus. This Calatrava is more of a daily wear piece, even though it’s still super high-end. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this little journey with me. I’m going to wear this bad boy proudly, even if it’s just a humble remake. It was a lot of work, but a great use of my time. Until next time, stay crafty!
