So, the other day, I finally decided to go and check out those CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Chronoscope watches everyone’s been talking about. I’d heard some folks saying they were something special, worth a pretty penny, and all that. Well, I figured it was time to see for myself.
I walked into one of those specialty stores, and boy, was it fancy. Shiny floors, bright lights, and watches everywhere. Felt a bit out of place, to be honest, but I was determined to get a good look at these Speedmasters.
Getting My Hands on the Watch
First thing I noticed was the size. They told me it’s 43mm, which is no problem since I can also wear the bigger 44.25mm size. It felt good on my wrist, not too heavy, not too light. They had a bunch of different styles, some with metal bracelets, some with leather straps. One of them even had this new clasp with easy adjustment. Pretty neat, I gotta say. I tried on the one with the metal bracelet. Felt solid, well-made. They told me it’s the same bracelet they used on some Apollo XI Moonshine edition a few years back. I guess that makes it kind of special, huh?
Checking Out the Details
Then I started looking closer at the dial. Now, this is where things get interesting. This here watch, it’s got a lot going on. There’s this thing called a tachymeter bezel, which apparently lets you measure speed. I’m not exactly sure how that works, but it sounds complicated. There’s also a dot above the zero numeral in 90, which the guy in the store told me indicates an earlier Moonwatch model. I just nodded along like I knew what he was talking about.

My Final Thoughts
Honestly, I had to get used to it. The watch is a bit busy for my taste. Lots of little numbers and markings. But I can see why some folks are into it. It’s definitely a conversation starter. And I can appreciate the craftsmanship. This isn’t some cheap knock-off. It’s a real piece of machinery. If you’re into fancy watches, and you got the money to spend, then yeah, maybe this CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Chronoscope is worth checking out. But for me, I think I’ll stick with my old watch for now. It tells the time just fine, and that’s all I really need.
The store experience was alright. They really know how to make you feel special, even if you’re just looking. They kept trying to put it on my wrist, but I kept saying no. I’m not falling for that trick! But they answered all my questions, even the dumb ones, and didn’t make me feel like too much of an idiot. I guess they’re used to dealing with all sorts of people, from serious collectors to folks like me who are just curious.
So, that was my adventure. I saw the watch, I tried it on, and I decided it wasn’t for me. But hey, maybe it’s for you. If I saw someone with one of these on their wrist, I’d definitely take a second look. It’s a statement piece, that’s for sure.
