Man, today I want to share my little project of remaking the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001. It’s a real beauty, you know, with that classic look and all.
So, first things first, I got my hands on some decent 18K white gold. I mean, you can’t skimp on materials when you’re trying to replicate something as classy as this watch. This thing is supposed to be 39mm in diameter and 8.1mm thick, so I made sure my materials matched those specs.
Next up, I focused on that iconic Clous de Paris pattern on the bezel. It’s this delicate, guilloched hobnail pattern that really gives the Calatrava its signature look. I practiced a bit on some scrap material, just to get the hang of it. I didn’t want to mess up the actual bezel, that’s for sure! It took some time, but I think I nailed it pretty well.
Then came the dial. This model’s got a charcoal gray dial, and it’s just stunning. I tried to recreate that color as best as I could. I mixed a few different shades and tested them out until I found the perfect match. It’s all about the details, right? Also, I found some 2023 version of this watch and the price was from $26,000 to $28,000. What a day! I thought I should make my own for sure.

The case itself is pretty simple, but it’s got that elegant, round shape that’s inspired by the Bauhaus style. I shaped the white gold carefully, making sure it was all smooth and polished. And of course, I added a sapphire crystal on top because that’s what the original has. It’s supposed to be water-resistant to about 30 meters, but I’m not planning on taking this beauty for a swim anytime soon!
Putting it all together
Finally, I put all the pieces together. It was a bit nerve-wracking, I’m not gonna lie. But seeing the finished product, it was all worth it. I mean, it’s not a genuine Patek Philippe, but it’s my own little tribute to this amazing watch. And honestly, I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. This is for sure one of my favorite watches in my collection now.
