Alright, so I’ve been seeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag everywhere lately, and I finally decided to make one myself. You know, the one they call a “classic style.” It’s got that fancy “Saffiano” leather, which, honestly, sounds like some kind of pasta dish, but I’m here for it.

First, I got my hands on some leather. I learned that Saffiano is just regular leather that’s been treated and stamped with a crosshatch pattern. It doesn’t get that worn-in look over time like some leathers, but it’s tough and looks sharp. And it’s real leather, not some fake stuff.

Next, I cut the leather into the right shapes. This bag’s got a pretty simple design, all sleek lines, so it wasn’t too tricky. The main thing was getting the measurements right so it would all fit together nicely.

  • Cut main body pieces
  • Cut side panels
  • Cut the bottom piece
  • Cut straps and handle

Then came the fun part – putting it all together. I sewed the main body pieces, then attached the side panels and the bottom. It started to look like a bag! This Galleria bag has a zipper at the top, so I installed that too. It’s always a bit fiddly to get zippers in straight, but I managed it.

For the handles, I used some rolled leather and sewed them on. Prada uses gold-tone hardware on these bags, but I just went with what I had. The original also has this little enamel triangle logo thing. I didn’t bother with that, but I did add a little tag on the inside with my initials – a personal touch, you know?

Finishing Touches

After all the sewing was done, I checked all the seams and trimmed any loose threads. I also conditioned the leather to make it look its best. And there you have it – my own version of the Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag. It might not be the real deal, but it’s got that same classic vibe, and I made it with my own two hands. Plus, I saved a ton of money!

It’s a pretty cool feeling to make something like this from scratch. You get a real sense of accomplishment, and you end up with a unique piece that’s all your own. I might not be a fancy designer, but I’m pretty proud of how this bag turned out. Now I just need to find some recycled ocean plastic to make some Re-Nylon fabric for the lining!
